Author Guidelines

Only original works, not submitted elsewhere, which are related to the thematic framework of the Studies in African Languages and Cultures will be accepted for publication. Contributions are expected to be in English, exceptionally also in French or in German. Authors should obtain permission to publish any material under copyright. The article must be preceded by an abstract (max. 100 words) and five keywords.
Please send your papers as an attachment by e-mail in both MS Word (or RTF) and PDF format to the editor at or submit online.
The author will receive an issue of the journal and PDF file of the article.

The journal style sheet
The authors are requested to keep the rules of formatting accepted for the journal:

• The total length of the article does not exceed 12 000 words, including notes and references.
• The main text of the manuscript is one and a half spaced lines, 12 points size (using Times New Roman font), and numbered consecutively.
• The author’s name and institutional affiliation is put in the left top corner of the first page.
• Footnotes (not endnotes) are used.
• For citation, the author’s name followed by the date (and page number, if relevant) of the publication are put in round brackets and used in the main text, for example (Smith 1990: 25). Please do not use footnotes for citation. The complete bibliographical entry will be given at the end of the article. The style of the references should conform with the MLA format:
